How We Work
There's been real progress in recent years towards genuine collaboration with patients in healthcare and research; but many organisations are still finding their way and the gap between good intentions and good practice can feel wide.
Collaboration and Partnership over 'just' PPI

Patient involvement is shifting from a "nice to have" to an expectation or requirement from funders and regulators.
Before long, co-creation like this won't be optional - it'll be the default. Teams will need a patient engagement strategy that goes beyond simple involvement or consultation to meet this expectation.
That shift can feel daunting.
-
For the pharmaceutical industry, there's legislation and codes of conduct to navigate, and real questions of transparency and integrity to consider.
-
For researchers, giving patients a genuine seat at the table is a departure from traditional ways of working, with its own implications for ethics and project management.
These concerns are entirely understandable.
The best part of my work is dispelling that fear - showing teams that these perceived barriers can be worked through simply, and that there's real opportunity on the other side.
MY APPROACH
My signature is combining creativity with compliance - helping you create outcomes that are genuinely unique, shaped by everyone's knowledge, and that still meet your objectives.
As both a qualified researcher and experienced patient expert, I strive to ensure projects I work on meet the high standards expected of healthcare research and the patient community. I am also ABPI code trained through the Prescription Medicines Code Of Practice Authority (PMCPA) as well as through additional training on clauses concerning interactions with patient organisations and the public, alongside general patient engagement best practise through organisations like Patient Focused Medicines Development (PFMD).
Working transparently, authentically and co-operatively with new partners doesn't need to be difficult.
In my experience, it actually strengthens projects: better understanding, clearer communication, and higher chances of success!
WHY IT MATTERS
Ultimately, patients decide for themselves whether research and treatments meet their needs and improve their lives.
They define the value of what gets produced.
At the same time, researchers and pharmaceutical companies hold deep insight into healthcare systems, disease progression and treatment that patient organisations and charities can benefit hugely from, alongside funding support.
Working in partnership reduces the cost, time and risk that comes from not consulting the people your work is for.
Projects built with patients (not just for them) are more accountable, more transparent, and consistently surface insights that wouldn't otherwise come to light.
